ISES goes to PLANTERRA

The entrance into Planterra
Our December ISES - International Special Events Society - meeting was held at Planterra. Located on Drake Road just north of 14 Mile, it is a fabulous venue that now is open for parties. Planterra is known for renting its trees and plants, but did you know you can purchase (or rent) anything in the store. Their prices range from a few dollars on up. They also are open 7 days a week, are a full florist for weddings and parties and now you can rent the venue for weddings, showers, corporate events, birthday parties etc. A beautiful venue.

At the registration desk, guests were greeted by Rolly Mansfield, our president and Debbie Heuchert from Champagne Chocolates in Mt. Clemens our finance chairperson.

Some of our new members include Thibalt & Moore Catering (above) outstanding food catering from 2 to thousands all over the Metro Detroit Area.

We want to also welcome Brides.com, Tattoos by An Affair to Remember, The Fillmore-Live Nation, Special Events Rental, Focus Hope and Planterra. The wall behind the bar is a "living" wall. Hand planted by the owner. Everything in Planterra is on wheels and can be moved anywhere in their venue for your event!

We also want to welcome Karen from Kroger's on Maple and Lahser. Who knew that Kroger's carries such a fine list of wines. Karen, who is a Sommelier, by the way, says they have many different wines from around the world at various prices. Worth going to Kroger for.

Finished renovating in October, the structure was brought in from Belgium. High ceilings, beautiful tile floors and an award winning in-house floral design team. What more does one need?

Plenty of room for guests and dancing.

I bought this yellow pepper plant. They have a lot of herbs and Planterra is offering an herb class in January or February (I forgot) but you can call them at 248-661-1515 and they will answer all your questions.

IF you are interested in joining ISES, please give me a call 248-626-3421. Come and be my guest at our next meeting, January 26, 2011 at Greektown Casino...hope to see you there.

The Treisman's 10 - 10 - 10 Party on October 23rd

Each year the Treismans have a party. Each year their party has a theme. This year was no exception.....a murder mystery where people were dying to attend was planned. Everyone was dressed as a 1920's character. Great food, great company and thank you to the Murder Mystery Company who kept everyone on their toes during the evening.

Everyone had great costumes on (they were ready for Halloween the week later!)

The kids really got into this year also. There was a lot of changing of hats, gloves and bowa's.

"Dixon", from the Murder Mystery Company, stayed in character throughout the evening. So did the other two people who joined him.

We had a good turn out from Michigan for the party.

Everyone took home a souvenir picture, as they do every year. Some say their best pictures are taken at the Treisman parties. Ruth wants to thank her sister Andrea, the party planner for helping her set up the evening which included very cute invitations, dinner and set up. A good time was had by all ......and we already have plans for the 11 -11 - 11 party. See you all next year.

Go Balloonie's did the magnificent balloons in greens and blues which looked great in Glen Oaks Country Club. Family and Friends enjoyed a fabulous buffet and they also enjoyed Dale and Thomas Popcorn in addition to a beautiful lavish sweet table. NO one went home hungry.

Happy Graduation Jimmy! Here with his mom and dad and Aunt Judy (far left) Jimmy danced his way through the evening with his mom and almost 300 loving family and friends. Truly a blessed young man, who has touched the lives of hundreds of people.

With a smile for all his guests Jimmy enjoyed the evening as much as his mom, dad and guests did. Lots of family pictures, eating, dancing and reminiscing made the event a hugh success.

An Angel Came To Earth
(Jimmy's Song) written by his mom Suzy Gavin

A spirit of love for all to share...A gift of healing for all who are in need ....
Kindness and concern in a gentle way.... Is given to all who come his way

His hands may seem weak, his step not so sure, his voice may not be heard to the human ear...He lives in a higher place where others cannot be....
As his heart is so pure that G-d can surely see

- Chorus -
That an angel came to earth... His smile so sweet...His eyes dancing with joy...
His heart and soul tell the sorry for all to know

Today we celebrate the gift of life that is you...
Our hearts join as one in gratitude... We sing and give thanks and praise to the lessons that you teach... Celebrate the gift of life that is you

- Chorus -
That an angel came to earth... His smile so sweet...His eyes dancing with joy...
His heart and soul tell the sorry for all to know...His eyes dancing with joy his heart and soul tell the story for all to know

Elegance is the perfect word for weddings performed by Rondo String Quartet. They can play for both your ceremony and cocktail hour. "We wish more brides would recognize the importance of utilizing a qualified wedding coordinator such as Andrea Solomon. A coordinator’s years of experience helps your wedding to run smoothly. Solomon's Helpful Hints and Tips

Planning an event can be very stressful and overwhelming. Every clients needs are different up to a point. When it comes to a party everyone sends out invitations.
Helpful Tip #1
You should ALWAYS put together a complete invitation ensemble with all your enclosures items, envelopes and any specialty cards such as direction cards or accommodation cards. Take this to your local post office and have it weighed and checked for size. Square and over sized invitations require extra postage AND long rectangle envelopes require more postage if printed vertical rather then horizontal. Something a lot of people do not know!
Helpful Tip #2
When making hotel reservations for your guests, you must sign a contract with the hotel to hold the rooms. The rooms are usually held 3 weeks prior to your event. Usually you are not held responsible for any unused rooms, but read your contract before you sign anything.
Helpful Tip #3
Alcohol. When you purchase alcohol for your party DO NOT buy large bottles such as gallon bottles. Purchase fifth's. Gallons are too heavy for the bartenders to pour,(they can lift and pour a bottle 400 or more times during an evening) slow down your bar service, and if you are having two or more bars, end up costing you a lot of money. Remember if you are having multiple bars you need multiple bottles. If your facility offers to do liquor service for your event, take them up on it. It will save you time and aggravation!
Helpful Tip #4
If you are having valet parking you will find you need to hire more people in the beginning because everyone comes at the same time....but as the evening goes on, staff can go home because people leave at different times.

Lena and Brett - August 21, 2010

Rabbi Syme, Cantor Rachel and cousin Rabbi Pamela all officiated the wedding. As you can see, the chuppah was held by four friends and all the guests walked under it to go to the reception. I love when they do that.

Roma Sposa had exactly what Lena wanted in a bridal gown. it was three pieces and here her dad and her try out walking to make sure she does not trip. Perfect! Smiles all around.

Mom and Dad, Margie and Donald, look radiant as they enjoy their daughters wedding. Now with both daughters happily married, they can sit back and wait for, dare I say, grandchildren. Hopefully they will not have to wait long!

From the photo above at Roma Sposa to the picture here, Lena looks radiant!

I did Lena's sister Lily's wedding two years ago and grandma looked just as beautiful today as she did at Lily's wedding. I love the generation pictures. they are so special. Make sure you all take lots of them.

Cake. Got to eat cake. Especially if it is from Patisserie Parmentier. John Parmentier is the owner and can make you spectacular cakes. In any shape and any flavor. Lena and Brett's cake was so elegant and beautiful and included a fountain below. Kathy Henk, florist, added a few dozen roses and it looked amazing...and it tasted good to!

Kathy Henks Studio in Pontiac did an amazing job on the flowers. They were gorgeous. Huge sunflowers and the colors were vibrant and really made an impact in the room as well as on the tables. They smelled lovely and Kathy really put her heart into this wedding, as she does every wedding. Amazing job Kathy!

Would you believe this is the stage at Temple Beth El? Well it is. No room for tables so we made use of the stage. THANK GOODNESS this bride and groom loved color. Not the same white, they really stepped it up! Yes, that is a water fountain in the middle of the sweet table!!

And would you have ever guessed this was the ceiling at temple Beth El? Well thank you Barbara Mandell for this spectacular ceiling treatment. It really made the room!

Hold on tight!! The bride and groom had a wonderful time doing the hora and being lifted up in the chairs. It is always fun to see there smiles as they enjoy seeing their family and friends from a birds eye view!

A wonderful way to personalize your wedding is with a song....here sung by the bride to her groom. The crowd cheered Lena on as she sang to her husband.

After eight years of dating, Elyse and Ryan finally tied the knot.

Pegasus did a great job with the LED lighting. Lighting definitely adds ambiance to a room. The ceremony room looked gorgeous. Breath of Spring did a great job.

The day was gorgeous and our couple looked "hot"!

Only 5 more hours to go: but Elyse was smart, she brought a few comfortable pairs of shoes with her. Once they announced her and her husband into the room, the energy kicked right back in. Intrigue the band, was fantastic and had to stop at 1am.

Can you tell the cake is fake? That is all but the second layer.

There were high and low center pieces.
White with touches of purple. Lots of candles.

And of course the Royal Park Hotel put out a beautiful sweet table at the end of the night. Then at 11:30 pm out came slides, home made chips and pizza for guests to nibble on. A fabulous night was had by everyone.
